Summertime at Hampton Lake! Everything was brilliant with the midday sun. Blue sky with white cumulus clouds was peacefully reflected on the lake. There weren't any boats on the lake which made the restful lake even more private.

Southern living at its best! It was a lovely evening for strolling the bank of the May River. We were not the only ones enjoying the gift of sunset. There was a young couple. The man was on his knee asking for the hand of his love of life. What a beautiful backdrop for that memorable moment. I wished the best for the couple as I was making this painting later in the studio.

Living in a lake community affords me to observe the sunset easily. There is much scientific explanation for its colors. To my eyes, it is almost serendipity. It is painted anew each time effortlessly. And it disappears quietly as the evening deepens. It is a wonder and glory of the Creator!
